(Lk 7 - Lk 9)

Memorise: "If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work" (2 Tim 2:21)

Read: James 1:22-27
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work" (2 Timothy 2:21).

Before God uses an individual, He demands purity. The purer you are, the greater God will use you. When vacancies exist for great Kingdom assignments, applications are tendered by men, but God sieves through to find the one whose heart is pure, whose life is God-glorifying, whose service is geared towards impacting men for good. Are you a purged vessel? To what extent are you carrying God's light? If you compare king Saul and David, you will see why the former failed while the latter succeeded. King Saul was too big to be instructed. He could not be corrected even for his little or fewer slips. David, on the other hand, easily accepted his bigger and more frequent sins as soon as they were pointed out to him (Ps 51). This tells us that it is not necessarily how big or small a sin is, but your disposition to it. The reason some believers condone or continue in certain sins is because they believe the sins are not significant enough to have any heavenly relevance. No sin is light. In fact, Hebrews 12:1 says sin is a weight. One sin in your life is so heavy that it can stop you from being raptured. To be raptureable, you must be as light as light.

"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed" (Jas 1:25 ). The fellow who will move to the latter house experience is the one who, when he or she discovers something wrong in his or her life, will not only agree but quickly make amends and decide never to return to it. Many erstwhile believers are in hell today not because they did not know what they were doing wrong, but they were too slow to do something about it, thinking they still had time. They suddenly realized that their time was up. 'Oh! Death, how could you come for me now?' They asked. 'Your time on earth is over. It's time to go', Death replied. 'Please, could you give me just three minutes to right my wrongs?' They asked. 'Sorry, you were given plenty of time but you misused it', Death replied. 'OK, Mr. Death, can I just have one minute to pray for forgiveness over an unconfessed sin?' 'Sorry, its too late!' Death struck and they went and faced eternity. Now you have excess time to right your wrongs, one day, there will be no more time! Correct your errors now that you are alive!

ACTION POINT:
Recently, many people have had to go through sudden death. Some go without being sick. You must live each day as if it were your last!

Pastor

Enoch A Adeboye Fondly known as G.O or Daddy G.O, Pastor Adeboye became the General Overseer (G.O) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981. Sheer curiosity and the search for a solution to a personal problem led Pastor Adeboye to worship at RCCG – Ebute-Metta in 1973. It was a most unlikely place of worship for a professor of Mathematics as the church had very few educated people and it lacked the comfort and grandeur of the Orthodox churches. His desire to reach the ends of the earth is captured in this statement, “I would love to have a breakthrough to such a height that I can lend to nations and preach on every television and radio station at least one hour per day.”
