MOUNTAIN: KEY TO NEXT LEVEL

December 12, 2009
Bible in One Year: Saturday, December 12, 2009 (Rev 7 - Rev 9) Memorise: "And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light" (Matt 17:2) Read: Matthew 17:1-2 1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. A mountain could be a problem. It could also be an obstruction to your destiny. But do you know that it can also be a stepping stone to your next level? That mountain before you may be all you need to climb in order to see God's plan for your future. One day, while going on an evangelistic trip with His disciples, the Lord encountered a high mountain. What did He do? He took Peter, James and John and they climbed the mountain and while at the peak of it, He was transfigured before them. In that brief moment, they saw a glimpse of His glory and had an idea of the greatness that awaited them. Meanwhile, the same mountain that was showing the Lord and His trio their next level remained a stumbling block to the other disciples. They could not move forward as long as the mountain stood before them. This tells us that a mountain may serve as hindrance to somebody but a stepping stone to another. This was why Zechariah 4:7 says, 'You may be a great mountain to others but to Zerubbabel, you are a stepping stone to my next level'. How do you see that problem you are facing? Are you seeing it as a problem or as a solution to other problems? A mountain will take the form you believe it to be. However, if you let God, that mountain will be the pedestal to your success. Occasionally, when God wants to enlarge your vision, He permits a problem which will compel you to move closer to Him. When things are going well, most of us fail to pray or look up to God. So, sometimes, He allows certain tough challenges that will help us develop our spiritual muscles. When I newly became a Christian, somebody suggested I fasted for three days. To me, it appeared suicidal to stay without food for that period. I told him I only fasted from 6 am to 12 noon on Good Fridays. But when I became the General Overseer and it became apparent that some members of the church council were determined to frustrate me through intense criticism and opposition, I saw it as a mountain I could not run away from. I ran to God and began to fast for many days. Yet it kept increasing. By the time the mountain eventually moved, fasting had become a part of my lifestyle. Ask God to turn that mountain into a stepping stone for your next level. ACTION POINT: Father, turn my present challenges into stepping stones to my next level.

Pastor

Enoch A Adeboye Fondly known as G.O or Daddy G.O, Pastor Adeboye became the General Overseer (G.O) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981. Sheer curiosity and the search for a solution to a personal problem led Pastor Adeboye to worship at RCCG – Ebute-Metta in 1973. It was a most unlikely place of worship for a professor of Mathematics as the church had very few educated people and it lacked the comfort and grandeur of the Orthodox churches. His desire to reach the ends of the earth is captured in this statement, “I would love to have a breakthrough to such a height that I can lend to nations and preach on every television and radio station at least one hour per day.”
