MEMORIZE: “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness” (Gal 3:6)

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Jer. 37-40

READ: Romans 4:20-25

20. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24. But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25. Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Abraham was outstanding in faith and in obedience. He believed God’s seemingly impossible promise and he obeyed God even when it cost him severe pains to go through circumcision at the age of 99. The one God will use for great things will not consider the pains, losses, disgrace or sacrifice that are ahead of an act of obedience. The focus is to please the Master Jesus Christ at one’s expense. To what extent are you prepared to please Jesus at a great price? Abraham was also outstanding in giving. In Genesis 22:1-18 when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac, he was willing. He obeyed even at a ripe age of 115.

He was prepared to do whatever God asked him to. The obedient remains obedient inspite of fleeting time and inspite of heavier tasks or assignments. Some people obey God for some years but thereafter destroy their testimony of obedience. Abraham sustained his testimony of obedience. It is either you are obedient or disobedient. If you find it difficult to sustain a life of obedience, you are unlike your father Abraham. Every act of obedience counts on your testimonial of obedience. Also, God makes requests from simple to hard ones. If you fail to obey in hard requests, you have failed the obedience test and destroyed your testimony.

If you are committed to a life of obedience, time will not affect your resolve, and the size of the request from God will also not affect it.
Every act of obedience is counted as a righteous act and attracts rewards. The reward however differs according to the size, and nature of the request. Ensure you do not miss an opportunity to be obedient to God. Each obedience is a building block on your testimony of obedience. To complete this, every block must be in place. One act of disobedience can crumble your testimony!

The truth is, if Jesus could grab every opportunity to lay each stone on His testimony of obedience, you too can. Even if you have lived in disobedience, you can have a fresh start. For every situation, grace is available for you to comply. When you meet with very complex situations that want to compel you into disobedience, be reminded that at such times, greater grace is made available for you to obey God. Just confess your weaknesses to God, thank Him for the grace He has made available and thereafter ask for His help. If you do this each time, you will not lose any building block.

ACTION POINT:
Ask God to supply whatever is missing in your Christian life and character until His perfect beauty is seen in you
