BRIDGE THAT GAP

(Rev 10 - Rev 12)

Memorise: "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:" (1 Peter 2:21)

Read: 1 Peter 2:21-23

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

One way to obtain knowledge about something or somebody is through personal observation. John the Beloved was part of the trio that accompanied Jesus to special ministry assignments. He was with Him at the mount of Transfiguration and he saw the Lord in glory. He observed Him carefully and diligently to the point that he became the closest disciple of the Lord. If you observe Jesus from scriptural accounts about Him, it will definitely show. If you pay attention to the life and times of Jesus, it will be easy to notice how He responded to temptations, trials, accusations, mob actions, pressing ministry demands, the poor and the rich, situations of lack and inadequacies, betrayal, friends and foes, His father, civic duties, etc. so that you can correctly imitate Him by following His steps.

"For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps" (1 Peter 2:21). Why is it that the lives of many believers, church leaders and workers still contradict the life style of Jesus which the above scripture says has been left for us to follow? It is simply because they are looking, reading and studying without observing. There is no way you will approach the Word of God as a researcher ready to observe phenomena, unravel and discover trends and events without coming out with something valuable.

Another way of acquiring knowledge is by association. An example of this is through marriage. Genesis 4:1 says Adam knew his wife Eve. This was an intimate relationship designed by God for the confines of wedlock only. Marriage provides a basis for intimate knowledge. John 15:15 also talks of intimate communication existing between Jesus and His disciples. The extent to which Jesus can share mysteries with you depends on the level of intimacy you share. Many Christians envy those who have privileged divine information whereas they are not prepared to work on their relationship with the Master. The Lord has already taken the step. It is for you to reciprocate by drawing near to Him and He will yet draw closer to you. Every gap between you and the Lord translates to the withdrawal of vital information from you. Bridge the gap today!

ACTION POINT:
If your cry is 'That I may know Him,' like Apostle Paul, then you must be prepared to pay attention to minute details as you study the life of Jesus.

(Rev 7 - Rev 9)

Memorise: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (1 Peter 5:7)

Read: 1 Peter 5:6-7

In one of our meetings some years ago, a lady with small breasts told the Lord she desired to have larger ones. The Lord heard and asked me to tell her He had heard her and was increasing the size of her breasts. And that as soon as she was satisfied with the size, she should shout 'Halleluyah!'. Later, she came to testify of that wonder...

(Rev 4 - Rev 6)

Memorise: "Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be" (Deut 33:25)

Read: Habakkuk 2:2-4

One reality which many have not come to accept is the fact that good or bad events do not affect every believer at the same time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven". Each of us has his or her time. There is a time for difficulties and problems. The...

UNSPEAKABLE JOY

Memorise: "Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:" (1 Peter 1:8)

Read: Luke 2:7-14

The shepherd who keeps watch when others are asleep is following the footsteps of Jesus Christ. In today's reading, certain things took place worth mentioning. First, while the shepherds watched, they received angelic visitation. Hebrews 1:13-14 says angels a...

Memorise: "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" (2 Cor 9:8)

Read: 2 Kings 7:8-11

"Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory" (1 Peter 1:8).

You can be a beneficiary of a joy that lasts both now and in eternity. It is called unspeakable joy. That i...

DISCERNING UNUSUAL OPPORTUNITIES

(Jer 45 - Jer 48)

Memorise: "At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered" (Isaiah 33:3)

Read: 2 Kings 13:16-19

Apart from unusual increase, another sign of the time of your favour is when God arises on your behalf. Psalm 102:13 says, "Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come". The Psalmist was compassed by strong and determined enemies w...

COST OF FAILING GOD

(Jer 41 - Jer 44)

Memorise: "There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Joshua 1:5)

Read: Joshua 1:1-5

Apart from knowing we have a multi-dimensional calling, another lesson from 1 Samuel 16:1-14 is that God always has a substitute. Do you know that if Saul had not failed God, Jonathan would have succeeded him? That means David m...

(Jer 37 - Jer 40)

Memorise: "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1)

Read: 1 John 4:1-3

One area the Lord commended the Ephesian church in His letter to them was in their ability to try professing ministers and sieve the genuine ones from the fake (Rev 2:1- 7). This is also very necessary for the church today yet we are getting too lazy to e...

PLEASING GOD

December 20, 2010

(Jer 33 - Jer 36)

Memorise: "Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work" (John 4:34)

Read: Matthew 3:16-17

There are categories of sonship in the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten of the Father (John 1:14) while the rest of us that are saved fall under the class of adopted sons. Under this class are golden, silver, wooden and earthen sons. Also, there are repentant and reliable as well a...

Memorise: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Gal 6:7)

Read: 2 Samuel 22:26-28

After Jacob served seven years for Rachel, he was given a veiled lady that wedding night only to discover by the following morning that he was given Leah instead of Rachel (Gen 29:21-27). Laban simply switched Leah for Rachel. Can God trick us? Galatians 6:7-9 talks of the law of harvest. God repays e...
