ENTERING MULTIPLICATION

May 9, 2011

Monday, May 09, 2011
MEMORIZE: “Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:7).

READ: John 6:5-13

In Genesis 1:20-23, God brought forth living creatures to foot the fields, float the air and flood the waters—all out of nothing. This is as amazing as it is frightening. If God can bring out something out of nothing, then He does not require your service or mine to do what He wants to do. That means He can simply do without us completely. Nobody is indispensable before God.

Sometime ago, a young brother learnt this lesson. He was such a useful worker to his pastor. His service was virtually needed everywhere. He was doing so well that at a point he began to think he was indispensable. One day, he came late for a meeting and his pastor suspended him for one week. He went to him in a nonchalant manner, saying that, the suspension would afford him some time for himself. 'Really?' asked his pastor.'Then you will go for two weeks!' Those were his most miserable two weeks ever!

He was sidelined while the work he thought would stop without him, continued as though he was never there. May the Lord never relieve you of what He has given to you. The truth is: those of you who are complaining of being too loaded with various assignments in church or ministry, do not know that God is doing you a favor. The day He relieves you of those assignments, you will know what it means to be unimportant.

That will not be your portion in Jesus name. Apart from bringing something out of nothing, God can take little and turn it into much. In 1 Kings 17:8-16, He took the meager meal of a hungry widow, multiplied it, and it became an abundance that sustained the man of God, the woman and her family for over two years.

Similarly, in John 6:5-13, God took the meal of a young boy—five tiny loaves of bread and two fishes, multiplied them and fed a crowd of 5000. God is still in the business of multiplication. You would observe in today's reading that the emphasis was on being thankful. After the boy's meal was brought, Philip, like many of us, had a pessimistic view and demeaned the handful offering.

Jesus, however, thanked God for the little and it became more than sufficient. If you want to enjoy a life of abundance, you must learn to be thankful. Complaining cannot increase you or yours, it can only hinder or decrease you. Have you thanked God for that little provision? If you can do so sufficiently well, it will outgrow its limits and become more than sufficient.

ACTION POINT: Spend one hour thanking God for little mercies you can see in your life and family. Ask God to place God-fearing leaders, who will relieve the oppressed and foster progress over your nation.

GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY

February 6, 2011

Saturday, February 5, 2011
MEMORIZE: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” (Prov 23:7).

READ: Romans 4:17-22

What you focus on, in any given situation, determines your outcome. Have you noticed that when you raise your eyes to look at something, you may be staring at several objects at the same time? Twenty people can face the same direction but no two will focus on the same thing. This shows the need to look aright. May ...

GOD'S USE, NO DISCRIMINATION

February 2, 2011
MEMORIZE: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:28).

READ: Galatians 3:26-29

Apart from using the challenged, children and the aged, God does not follow any particular order in choosing who to use in families. He may choose to either use the firstborn or the last born. Samuel was the firstborn of Hannah. Our Lord Jesus Christ was the firstborn of the family of Joseph. Both were mightily...

EMPLOYING FILTERS?

January 25, 2011
MEMORIZE: “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” (Prov. 1:5).

READ: Romans 10:16-18

Another way to identify the wise is by what he hears. God has given everyone the right to determine what to hear and what not to hear. What you hear does not stop at your ear gate but goes into your heart, affects your actions and reactions and can determine your destiny. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issue...

LEADERS NEED PRAYERS

January 23, 2011
MEMORIZE: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” (1 Tim. 2:1).

READ: John 17:1,6-8

The desire to occupy leadership positions in the church is good, but you must have Heaven's backing. You must have call from the Owner of the work. The litmus test of any ministry is whether it is commissioned from Heaven or earth. Who gave you the go ahead for that assignment—God or man? It is important to note that Kingdo...

YOU ARE UNIQUE

January 22, 2011
MEMORIZE: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Ps. 139:14).

READ: Psalm 139:13-18

In Exodus 2:1-2, after Jochebed conceived, Moses was born. That great, God-glorifying vision you have conceived for your life shall be born in Jesus name. Another lesson from this story is that nothing happens by chance. There is a stroke of divine touch in every seeming random event. The birth of Moses was not an accident ...

"When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord" (Luke 5:8).

Read: Isaiah 40:28-29

"God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God" (Psalm 62:11). Anyone who knows God will know that He is the custodian of spiritual power. It is His property. You may have a fraction of the power because He chooses to r...
