RECEIPTS DETERMINED BY REQUESTS
Monday, September 19, 2011
MEMORIZE: “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.” (Isa. 40:28).

READ: Isaiah 40:25-28

After accepting to shine, a question you must ask yourself is: 'How bright do I want to shine?' The reason you must honestly ask yourself this question is because God has so much to offer. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him”. This means that you have not seen anything yet.

No wonder God is the inexhaustible One whose understanding cannot be comprehended. It is said that the greatest genius that the world ever knew operated below 30% of his brain capacity, before his death. If this is so, you can imagine the level of technological breakthrough we would have reached if someone was to utilize 70% of his brain capacity! Scientists have discovered that the most advanced computer in the world is still operating below 10% capacity of the human brain. This shows the awesome potential in you, waiting to be manifested.

How much of your potentials have been realized? God has so much to offer to us. Unfortunately, we are not eager to receive from Him. Your capacity to receive from God is a function of the level of hunger, thirst and faith you harbor or express. Without hunger, you may never receive an inch of God. While on a visit to London, I ran out of funds. With two days to my return, I still had some shopping to do.

So I casually expressed a wish that I had 50 pounds to buy what I wanted. Few minutes later, the phone rang and someone said “Biyi.”. I told him it was a wrong number, and so he apologized. Thereafter I said, 'God bless you', preparing to hang up. Then a conversation ensued and he got to know who I was and came over. After prayers, as he left with his brother, he gave me 50 pounds.

I thanked God, but said if I had known it would be so easy, I would have wished for 100 pounds. A few minutes later, the door bell rang. Before I could get there, a stingy rich man who never gave me money before had written a note saying that he felt God wanted him to give me 50 pounds. I found the enveloped dropped at the door. While thanking God and heading upstairs, I wished I had asked for 150 pounds.

Few minutes later, another 50 pounds came. At that point, fear gripped me and I told God I was only joking. I was too awe-struck to continue asking! God has more than you can ever ask for. How much can you ask for?

PRAYER POINT: Thank God for missionaries in the various mission fields of the world. Pray that God will meet all their needs and use them to increase His Kingdom.

BENEFITS OF KNOWING HIM

September 11, 2011

MEMORIZE: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” (Hosea 4:6)

READ: John 17:1-4

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3). The greatest thing in life is knowing God. If all your energy, time and resources are channeled towards...

WHITHER GREATER WORKS?

September 10, 2011

MEMORIZE: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)

READ: John 14:12-14

In addition to identifying your purpose on earth, it is equally important to know what you can become. That is, you should know your potentials in Christ. One person who knew both his purpose and potential was John the Baptist. In John 3:29, he said, “He that hath the bride is the ...

NOT ENOUGH!

September 9, 2011

MEMORIZE: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 7:21).

READ: Matthew 7:21-23

In Revelation 2:16, the Lord told the church in Pergamos that He was I going to fight against the Nicolaitanes in their midst - people who tolerate sexual immorality. This attitude of God is consistent with His past dealings with His children. For instance, after God delivered the Israelites from Eg...

IS GOD UNRIGHTEOUS?

September 3, 2011

MEMORIZE: “What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.” (Rom. 9:14).

READ: Romans 9:11-14

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jer. 29:11). Whether you believe in destiny or not, it exists. In the above scripture, God calls it 'an expected end'. God does not do anything without a purpose and a plan. Anything that has a beginning also has an ending. Everything on earth i...

A NICOLAITANE?

September 2, 2011
MEMORIZE: “So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.” (Rev. 2:15)

READ: Rev. 2:14-16

Closely allied to the doctrine of Balaam is the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes. The Nicolaitanes were the followers of a heretic, Nicolas, who saw nothing wrong with a man sleeping with other people's wives. He also believed there was nothing wrong with eating meals sacrificed to idols. Like the Libertines, he believed that people should be free. As a result of suc...

A step above the class of the wealthy is the level of the that level was Solomon. In 2 Chronicles 1:15-16, it is on record flourishing. An example of a Bible character who operated on that in the days of king Solomon, silver and gold were like common stones. He insisted that only gold must be brought into his treasure house.

JUMPING THE GUN?

August 26, 2011
MEMORIZE: “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” (James 1:4).

READ: Exodus 2:11-15

There is an appropriate time to be favored. Very early in life, Moses knew that he was born to be some kind of deliverer, although the exact nature of deliverance was not clear to him. When God has a special plan for your life, He will cause you to know it one way or another. Sometimes, it may be through strong convictions or compassions He puts in you. T...

THE RICH AND THE WEALTHY

MEMORIZE: “Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.” (Ps. 66:12).

READ: Genesis 26:12-14

In the spectrum of wealth, you have the poor, survivors and the comfortable. As unpleasant as these categories may sound, the bulk of the people fall within these classes. If you are in any of these, the Lord will take you up to far better levels this year. A step above the level of comfort is the category of th...

In addition to appreciating and going after what is good, parents should teach their children and wards to respect God's anointed vessels.
