Memorise: "I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air" (1 Cor 9:26) Read: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. "And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought" (Mk 8:23). God does not release His blessings on a place or people that are under His curse. Can you imagine this blind man who was brought to Jesus in the cursed town of Bethsaida. Usually, the Lord would say, 'Your faith has made you whole, be it unto you according to your faith'. But in this case, the faith of the blind man and that of those who brought him was not enough. Jesus touched the man but nothing happened. Then He checked up with the Father, asking what was wrong. It was then He realized the curse He placed on the town was resisting His blessing. Seeing that the people of Bethsaida had not repented, to enable Him lift the curse, the Lord relocated outside the town before making more efforts. Even at that, the restoration of sight was progressive. Whenever you pray for someone or a place and it's like the prayer is bouncing back, stop and ask, 'Why?' A divine sentence or curse may be in place. The presence of a divine curse makes it impossible for blessings to descend upon an individual. Unlike Jesus, many servants of God today are not as discerning. When you are praying over something or someone and it is coming back at you, you should know something is wrong. Instead of asking, some ministers continue to waste their time and energy on the fellow. Another lesson here is that if you sinned against God and triggered a divine curse, the first thing to do is not to be asking to be blessed, but to ask for mercy and lifting of the curse through sincere and total repentance, restitution and rededication. Have you triggered a divine sentence upon yourself or your family through acts of disobedience, rebellion, pride or self will? Suspend every other request and reconcile with God! If you don't, all your prayer and fasting effort for that desired blessing will be wasted. So much of prayer is wasted today because of lack of sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. This is also another reason workers and ministers of God must do anything they can to avoid being put under suspension. When under suspension, your Heaven becomes brass. Are you under a divine sentence? Repent and make your ways right today! ACTION POINT: Have you been making fruitless efforts in a particular area or project? Find out! A curse could be the hindrance. Break it today!
