Bible in One Year Tuesday, December 22, 2009 (Dan 10 - Dan 12) Memorise: "Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God" (2 Cor 9:11) Read: Daniel 4:34-37 34 ¶ And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. 37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. After sinew, flesh and skin came on the dry bones, the valley of dry bones became the valley of dead bodies - corpses (Ezek 37:7-8). Thereafter, God asked Ezekiel to prophesy once more. When he did, the wind blew and a strong and great army came out of dry bones! One lesson here is that when God commences somebody's restoration by the word of prophecy, the fellow should continue to prophesy on the situation until the last stage of restoration. Has God started the blessing? Have you been invited for the job interview or made to defend that proposal? Is part of the pain you were feeling ebbing and are you receiving a measure of relief over your failing health situation? Continue to prophesy concerning that situation. Apart from this, be engaged in heartfelt and continuous thanksgiving like Nebuchadnezzar did in Daniel 4:35-37. Thanksgiving achieved a lot for him; first, as an animal in the forest, as he thanked God, it positively impacted on his memory and reasoning. Dull students, senile adults can have their memory or I.Q. sharpened. In this way, thanksgiving is compared to the Word of God which performs the same function when hid in our hearts and regularly meditated upon (Ps 119:97-100). The more you think on the Word of God, the more wonders it does to your brain. Nebuchadnezzar also discovered that as he was praising God and worshipping Him, all the good things he lost over the years were restored to him. Have you suffered the loss of something precious? As you thank God, He will expedite the restoration process. As you praise, worship and thank the Most High from today, your restoration shall be complete in Jesus' Name. Another benefit of thanksgiving that Nebuchadnezzar observed was that his lords and counsellors who forgot him suddenly remembered him and declared a man-hunt search for him until he was found and reinstated. This means thanksgiving can cause you to be remembered by those who should favour you. As you thank the Lord profusely, sincerely and regularly from today, the helpers connected with your destiny shall remember you and favour you. Lastly, good things were added to him. This compares thanksgiving with seeking God first as they both produce the addition of good things (Matt 6:33). As you thank God from today, good things shall be added unto you. Without struggling, you will be recording great success. How are you thanking God today? ACTION POINT: Thank God for life, protection and provision for you and your family. Father, help us to bring in a great harvest of souls that will glorify your Name at the December Lets-Go-A-Fishing.
