Bible in One Year: Sunday, September 20, 2009 (Job 38 - Job 42)
Memorise: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (Jas 1:17)
Read: Psalm 121:1-8 1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. 6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Blessings or destructive missiles can fall from the front, and from behind. The past of many are haunting them today. Every evil seed sown in the past must be uprooted to prevent its harvest from affecting us now and in the future. This can be done by asking for forgiveness and mercy, and by taking steps to right your wrongs - through restitution. God can terminate the pursuit of your enemies from your past and behind you. The Egyptians that came with you from your past will be destroyed beyond recognition today in Jesus' Name.
Apart from these directions - front and behind, blessings or curses can also fall from above. No wonder the Psalmist said, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help" (Ps 121:1). So many blessings come from above - from the Father of lights (James 1:17). In the wilderness, God gave the Israelites manna (Ex 16:14-15). Manna is symbolic of God's provision from the Heavenly planet. With manna, Israel was fed for 40 years until they entered into the promised land. Are you in need of basic necessities of life such as what to eat or drink? The Jehovah Jireh will visit you and meet your needs.
According to today's reading, help comes from above. This tell us that the Heavenly planet is where destiny helpers are created. In whatever way you require help, God will respond from above in Jesus' Name. You must look at the direction from where you are expecting help or you will miss it. If you are expecting help from above but you are looking sideways at those you know, you will not know when your help will be delivered. This accounts for why many believers lose their blessings. If you want your promotion from God, focus on Him. Look up to Him, not your boss in the office. How do you gaze for help from above? Have a personal relationship with God. Have faith in Him. Ask Him what you desire backed up with His Word. Study the Word regularly. Don't allow any distraction. Obey Him and make Him happy. Thank Him for answers and be full of excitement and expectation of the manifestation of your desire. Your help will surely locate you.
ACTION POINT: The direction you look shows where your hope is. If you want God to bless you, why look to man?

Fondly known as G.O or Daddy G.O, Pastor Adeboye became the General Overseer (G.O) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 1981. Sheer curiosity and the search for a solution to a personal problem led Pastor Adeboye to worship at RCCG – Ebute-Metta in 1973. It was a most unlikely place of worship for a professor of Mathematics as the church had very few educated people and it lacked the comfort and grandeur of the Orthodox churches.
His desire to reach the ends of the earth is captured in this statement, “I would love to have a breakthrough to such a height that I can lend to nations and preach on every television and radio station at least one hour per day.”
