HI, we are the Matik Melodies, a gospel and inspirational band here in Swansea, and we are having a concert on the 3rd of November 2012 to raise money for Place of victory Charity (POV).
POV is a charity that contributes to the development of our community, through its numerous community outreach programs. It is created in response to the increasing number of young people falling on the wrong part. It works together with the community, the government and other similar organisations to improve the lives of young people in the society, thereby eliminating poverty. It meets the needs of the people by showing them love and affection; encouraging and assisting them during their struggle so that they can get back on their feet. We need your help to raise money to help facilitate the great work this charity does in our community.

What problem is the project addressing?
Like most low income communities in United Kingdom, Swansea is heavily exposed to criminal gangs, drugs and prostitution. Due in part to the lack of alternatives in the community, it is not at all unusual for children as young as 12 to become involved with gang culture. The project engages these young people in activities such as Computing, English, mentoring, Dance and Arts. The project is always in need to have funding to sponsor a young person out of this lifestyle. Please sponsor a young person today.
How will this project solve the problem?
POV aims to build a Centre in the Swansea community which will become a focal point of the community; it will be equipped with computers and broadband access and offers a program of activities including Educational Support, IT, mentoring, Dance and Arts.
What is the potential long-term impact of this project?
Allows 50 young people to receive education and participate in activities they would otherwise not have access to, providing them with a basis to develop their self-esteem and skills for the future and prevent their involvement with Drug Trafficking
