Hi my name is Ayo Thompson (aka Ayo MT) and I am running the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k on Sunday the 23rd of September at 1pm for the Place of Victory (POV) charity! POV is committed to developing the community, working in partnership with similar organisations in Swansea, and passionate about reaching out to encourage the involvement and full participation of members of the community especially in the most deprived areas of Swansea. This is done through a variety of community outreaches, programmes and projects throughout the year. Please support me as I run to raise money for a building to support and help facilitate the work of POV in Swansea.

What problem is the project addressing?
Like most low
income communities in United Kingdom, Swansea is heavily exposed to criminal
gangs, drugs and prostitution. Due in part to the lack of alternatives in the
community, it is not at all unusual for children as young as 12 to become
involved with gang culture. The project engages these young people in
activities such as Computing, English, mentoring, Dance and Arts. The project
is always in need to have funding to sponsor a young person out of this
lifestyle. Please sponsor a young person today.
How will this
project solve the problem?
POV aims to build
a Centre in the Swansea community which will become a focal point of the community;
it will be equipped with computers and broadband access and offers a program of
activities including Educational Support, IT, mentoring, Dance and Arts.
What is the
potential long-term impact of this project?
Allows 50 young
people to receive education and participate in activities they would otherwise
not have access to, providing them with a basis to develop their self-esteem
and skills for the future and prevent their involvement with Drug Trafficking
